Beardstown River & Outdoor Opportunities

Illinois River at Beardstown

Beardstown Marina- Located at Mile 88 on the Illinois River and once known as the "Belle on the Bend", Beardstown's famous marina was a well known boat stop for river travelers. A natural bay area, the Marina is now owned by the city of Beardstown, and plans are underway for its renovation and revitalization.

River Look- Located at the foot of State Street, the Beardstown River Look stand provides viewing opportunities for residents and visitors alike. From the stand, it's easy to drift back in time and imagine the role the river played in Beardstown's development.
Muscouten Bay- Upstream of the Marina, Muscouten Bay provides numerous outdoor opportunities. Although years of siltation have diminished the greatness of this natural treasure, many hunters and fishermen still travel here for sport because of the many bays, streams and wooded areas.
Jim Edgar Panther Creek - Located approximately 15 miles east of Beardstown, this latest addition to the Illinois Department of Natural Resources provides several opportunities to interact with Nature. With over 15,000 acres to work with, the Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) is currently working to make this area the Jewel in its' crown.
Beardstown Park District- Beardstown has a progressive park district consisting of 4 park areas, and offers several opportunities for all citizens and visitors to enjoy our great outdoors.
