Beardstown is the home of many industries including Excel Corporation, the largest pork processing plant in the state.

Located 45 miles west of Springfield, the capital of Illinois, Beardstown is located at the junction of U.S. Highway 67 and Illinois Routes 100 and 125 on the east bank of the Illinois River.

Greater Beardstown Airport is located within 3 miles of the city, and is currently undergoing a runway expansion to accommodate corporate aircraft. A commercial airport is located 45 miles east of Beardstown in Springfield.

Due to the foresight of our past city leaders, a large portion of our commercial district is located in a Tax Incremental Financing District (TIF). This allows a revenue source to aid in economic development.
